Berlin is a great city to be vegan in. It’s actually been voted the most vegetarian & vegan-friendly city in Europe, and with good reason.
However, some areas are more vegan-friendly than others, and no area is more veganized than Friedrichshain. If you’re a vegan travelling to Berlin, this is where I’d recommend you stay. Not only will you find heaps of vegan food offers and cheap accommodation, but it is also the cool hip district with its alternative vibes and some of the best nightlife spots in the city.
Aside from fully vegan or vegetarian restaurants, quite a few places have a separate vegan menu. As you walk around Friedrichshain, you’ll also come across many non-veg places that have at least one vegan option on their menu.
This list is Cappuccino Fields Guide to the best vegan food in the area – Enjoy !

We had the Couscous Bowl & the Thai Pea burger with sweet potato fries. The mango mayo is to die for !
VEGANZ – GOODIES
Veganz is the first exclusively vegan supermarket chain in Europe. This place is fantastic because it combines the vegan grocery store with a coffee shop/ bakery. Goodies offers bagels, filled croissants, wraps, takeaway salads and delicious cakes. Smoothies & hot beverages. Eat in or take-out. Very friendly people.
Upstairs of the same building, you can also find “The Bowl”, a clean eating vegan restaurant, and a vegan shoe shop.

Huge baked potatoes loaded with fresh vegetables and salad. Two vegan options : The “Original” with couscous and bell pepper mash (seen above), or the “Hot Chili” with kidney beans and Jalapeños. Fresh, filling and very tasty. Have fun eating with just a spoon.
Small restaurant that makes pizzas & pides and has a whole separate vegan menu. We tried the spinach pide. Lots of melted vegan cheese. Open until the wee hours of the night for a treat after a night out.
Small Sudanese fast-food joint with vegan options such as the Madagascar tofu pita, manioc fries, falafels with peanut sauce, salad and beans, or the Vegan plate (seen above) which includes all of these. Very filling.

Hours : Daily 12 pm – 12 am
Budget : 3.5€ for manioc fries & fried bananas. 4€ Madagascar tofu pita, grilled veggies combo, Fohl (beans). 7€ for the vegan plate or your own self-made plate.
Small place that sells burritos & quesadillas. There is only one vegan burrito but vegetarian options can be made vegan upon request. They’re very generous with the guacamole. No additives or chemicals. Everything is made fresh. Eat in (limited seating) or to go.
